South-South Roadshow Advert
President Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR inaugurated a Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Working Group (NSWG) in February 2004.
This was in response to the poor public perception, both locally and internationally, of the generation, allocation and accounting of revenues derived from minerals extraction.
As part of efforts of this working group, to address this situation, the need to improve the capacity inadequacies of Civil Society Organizations to enable them constructively engage government and ask the right questions of the Extractive Industry reform program has become imperative. A two-day workshop (Road Show) is therefore planned for the end of July 2005, between 27th and 28th July 2005 at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
